FAQ

Before you start

How is Cal.com different from Calendly?

The clearest difference is how you pay. Calendly bills per user per month, so five people means five subscriptions. Here it is a flat NT$399 a month and team size doesn't change the price. Cal.com is also open source and self-hosted, so your booking data lives in your own instance rather than on someone else's SaaS.

Do I pay extra for team members?

No. One subscription, one flat monthly fee, no per-seat charge — and you still get the team scheduling features like round-robin assignment and shared availability.

Can I connect Google Calendar?

Yes. The usual setup is to read several calendars (work, personal) to decide whether you are free, but write new bookings into just one of them. Calendar sync has a short lag, so pair it with buffer times and a minimum booking notice.

Can bookings create a video meeting link automatically?

Yes. Connect Google Meet or Zoom and every booking gets a meeting link created for it and included in both confirmation emails — no opening rooms by hand.

Can I charge for bookings, like a deposit or a consulting fee?

Yes. Once payments are connected, a booking only counts as confirmed after the client pays, which works well for paid consultations or for using a deposit to cut down no-shows. See the paid bookings guide for setup.

What does the booking page URL look like? Can I use my own domain?

Your instance gets a dedicated subdomain from us with HTTPS out of the box, so the URL is ready for business cards, social profiles and email signatures. If you need a custom domain, get in touch and we'll talk it through.

How much does managed Cal.com cost?

NT$399/mo (1 vCPU / 2 GB storage), including SSL, a dedicated subdomain and automatic backups, with no setup fee; one flat fee no matter how big your team is. You pay by recurring credit card charge and can cancel renewal from the dashboard anytime.

I'm switching from Calendly. What about my old booking links?

That is the real challenge of switching: your old links already live in clients' contacts, the quotes you have sent and your business cards. Run both side by side for a while instead of cancelling the old one the moment the new one is ready; how long depends on your furthest-out booking and how often you send emails with the link. See "Calendly to Cal.com" in the Support Center for the full plan.

Is self-hosting Cal.com cheaper?

Cal.com is open source and can be self-hosted, but installing it only gets you to the starting line: the real time goes into Google Calendar OAuth and notification email setup. Email especially — a self-hosted sender has no reputation, and if confirmations land in spam the booking effectively never happened, without either side noticing. See "Cal.com Self-Hosted vs Managed" in the Support Center for the cost breakdown.

Where is my data stored? Is it secure?

In your own Cal.com instance: each instance is an isolated Docker container on its own network, never shared with other customers, with HTTPS on every connection. Your booking data stays in your own instance rather than with a third-party SaaS.

Can I cancel anytime? What happens to my data?

Yes. Monthly billing with no contract: cancel in one click from the dashboard and billing stops at the end of the current term; fees already paid for that term are not refunded. After expiry the instance is paused and your data is kept for 3 months, so renewing within that window restores everything as it was; after 3 months it is deleted.

Can I get an invoice with my company Tax ID?

Yes. At checkout, choose "Company invoice" under E-invoice and enter your company name and Taiwan Tax ID (統一編號) to receive a triplicate company invoice; individuals can choose "Personal receipt".

Is there a free trial?

Yes. On the Free Trial page, pick Cal.com and leave your contact details — no credit card, nothing to install. Our team sets up a trial environment so you can try it before you decide.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong?

Start with the dashboard: you can restart or rebuild the instance yourself, and a restart fixes most connection problems. For how-to questions, ask Roamer, the chat assistant in the bottom-right corner, or use Roamer AI support in your dashboard. For a human, email [email protected] or message our LINE official account @818kotud — we reply within 24 hours on business days, from Taiwan.
