5 Chapter 5・0:56

Your first message: the homepage

Give your name, what you sell, who it is for, your contact details and the style, all at once.

Key notes

  • Give it all at once: your name, where you are, what you sell, who your customers are
  • Write your real phone, address and hours. The AI never makes them up
  • Describe the style as a picture, and say what you don't want
  • For a whole homepage it shows a plan first. Reply "OK, go ahead with the plan"
  • When done, it checks desktop and mobile screenshots and sends you the link
Read the narration transcript

Your first message matters most.Think of it as your first meeting with a designer.Start with your business name, where you are and what you sell, and who your customers are. Then give your phone number, address and opening hours all at once. The AI never makes these up.Only what you give it goes on the site.Describe the style as a picture."A café in the morning: warm, with lots of wood" works much better than just "simple".You can also say what you don't want. After you send it, for a big job like a whole homepage, it shows you a plan first.Reply "OK, go ahead with the plan", and it starts designing the layout, writing the copy and creating photos. That takes ten to fifteen minutes, so feel free to do something else. When it's finished, it takes its own screenshots on desktop and mobile, fixes anything that looks off, and gives you the link to see it.

Example message (swap in your own details)

I'd like a website for my coffee shop. It's called "Morning Light Coffee", in West District, Taichung. We serve pour-over coffee and pastries we bake ourselves, and most of our customers are nearby office workers and students. Phone 04-2301-5678, address 100 Gongyi Road, West District, Taichung, open daily 8:00–18:00. For the style, think of a café in the morning: warm, lots of wood, nothing too flashy. Build the homepage first, with the header menu and footer, and send me screenshots when it's done.

Small changes: just say it

Change text or photos by saying which page, which section, and what it should be.

Key notes

  • Be specific: which page, which section, what it should be
  • Add "leave everything else as it is", and it changes only that
  • Photos: click the paperclip or drag them in, up to 3 at a time
  • Several problems? List them with numbers in one message
Read the narration transcript

Once you're happy with the homepage, just tell it about small changes.Say which page, which section, and what to change it to.For example: "Change the homepage headline to 'Coffee, and a slow start', and leave everything else as it is." Small edits like this happen right away, usually within a minute or two.To use your own photos, click the paperclip next to the message box, or just drag the photos in, up to three at a time. Then tell it where to put them, like "Use this one as the big image at the top of the homepage."If you spot several problems, list them with numbers in one message. It will handle each one, and report back on each one.

Undo and confirmation codes

A snapshot is saved before every change, and risky actions wait for your confirmation.

Key notes

  • A snapshot is saved automatically before every change
  • Not happy? Say "undo", or change back just one thing
  • Updating plugins, switching themes, restoring a backup: you get a confirmation code first
  • Nothing happens until you click "Confirm". "Not now" cancels it
Read the narration transcript

Before every change, Roamer AI automatically saves a snapshot.Don't like the result?Just say "undo", and it rolls back that last step. You can be more specific too, like "change the button color back, but keep the rest."For riskier actions, like updating plugins, switching themes or restoring a backup, it explains what it's about to do, and gives you a confirmation code.Nothing happens until you click "Confirm".If you'd rather not, click "Not now".So even if you're not technical, you don't have to worry about it changing things it shouldn't.

Habits for better results

Five habits for writing requests, plus one last check before you go live.

Key notes

  • Describe the result, not just the action
  • Homepage first, then "make the other pages in the same style"
  • Changing one section? Add "leave everything else as it is"
  • Want a whole new look? Say "redesign" clearly
  • Not sure it understood? Say "show me the plan first"
  • Before going live, have it check every page on desktop and mobile
Read the narration transcript

Here are a few habits that help Roamer AI do its best work. One: describe the result, not just the action."Change the button" is vague."Make the button at the top of the homepage gold, and link it to the shop page" is clear. Two: do the homepage first. When you like it, say "make the other pages in the same style." If the direction is off, you only redo one page.Three: when you change one section, add "leave everything else as it is."Four: if you want a completely new look, say "redesign" clearly.Otherwise it keeps your current design.Five: not sure it understood?Say "show me the plan first", and confirm before it starts. And before you go live, ask it to check every page on desktop and mobile, then ask: is it ready to go public?
