This article covers the questions people ask before subscribing. For configuration questions after installation, see the OpenClaw FAQ.
Q: Does the monthly fee include AI model costs?
It depends on the plan: Pro doesn’t, while Advanced includes a Roamer AI subscription allowance.
On Pro, the monthly fee covers the managed environment only. You bring your own API key for the underlying language model (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and so on), and model usage is billed to that key directly by the provider. Roamer AI can’t be used with a Pro lobster.
On Advanced, your lobster answers with Roamer AI by default, so it works without an API key of your own. Usage counts toward your Roamer AI daily allowance, which resets at 00:00 Taipei time; if you use it up, the lobster tells you so and it’s back the next day. If you’d rather use your own model, you can also add your own key on the instance’s API Keys page. Roamer AI is also the AI engineer that works directly inside your lobster, creating agents, writing their personality and working rules, installing skills, setting up schedules and reading logs to debug.
If you’re bringing your own key, the API key setup guide explains how to configure it.
Q: How do the two plans differ, and which should I pick?
Pro, at NT$599, comes with 2 vCPU / 10 GB, browser automation and 1–5 custom agents. Advanced, at NT$1,599, comes with 2 vCPU / 20 GB — double Pro’s storage — plus commercial Roamer AI access and room for 5–10 custom agents. What separates the two is storage and AI.
Between the two plans, the choice comes down to two questions: how much storage do you need, and do you want AI to build your agents for you?
A browser has to render entire web pages, which is resource-hungry, so both plans come with enough resources to run browser automation. Whether your use is mainly text conversations, calling APIs or web page operation, Pro is plenty to start with.
If you need more storage, or want AI to build agents, write their personality and working rules, set up schedules and read logs to debug for you, pick Advanced — the extra cost buys double the storage (20 GB) and Roamer AI. Pro includes no AI allowance, so Roamer AI can’t be used with a Pro lobster. To upgrade later, open your instance page under My Projects and click "Add Roamer AI (upgrade to Advanced)" on the Roamer AI card; it takes effect as soon as you pay, and your lobster and its data stay exactly as they are — no rebuild.
Q: How is it different from n8n? I am looking at both
The biggest difference is that it has a browser.
n8n works through APIs — if the other side has one you can connect, and if it does not, you are stuck. OpenClaw can drive a real browser: open pages, click buttons, fill in forms, read the screen. That lets it handle systems that only have a web interface and no public API.
Conversely, if every service you need has an API, the process is fixed, and it runs frequently, n8n is faster, more reliable and cheaper. The full boundary is covered in what it can and cannot do.
Q: Can it finish a vague task I hand it?
The term "AI agent" invites that expectation, but honestly: you still have to state clearly what you want done.
It can handle judgment calls of the "decide the next step based on what you see" kind, but it will never work out your business goals on its own.
Q: Can it connect to LINE or Telegram?
Messaging platform integration is supported, so you can issue instructions through chat. See the messaging platform setup guide for configuration.
Q: Will a website redesign break my automation?
Yes, and that is an inherent limitation of browser automation.
So for processes that are critical to operations, use an API wherever one exists. Browser automation is at its best where there is no API and someone would otherwise have to click through the site by hand — there it is irreplaceable, but you have to accept adjusting it when the site changes.
Getting started
Q: How long from subscribing to actually using it?
The instance itself is provisioned in 60 seconds. What takes time is the first-time setup: getting a model API key (Pro only — Advanced comes wired to Roamer AI, so you can skip it), connecting Telegram, and giving it its first batch of tasks. Following the post-install setup guide, you can finish all of it in one evening.
Q: Are my data and API key safe?
Every instance is an isolated container. Files, memory and API keys exist only inside your container, instances are completely isolated from each other, and the RoamerHost platform cannot read your key. For the details, see the container architecture overview.
Q: Can I get a refund if I am not happy?
Monthly billing with no contract: cancel with one click in the dashboard and billing stops at the end of the current period. We suggest evaluating it by actually running the tasks you want to automate for a month — one real round is the most accurate way to tell whether it fits you.

Want someone to do it for you?
If you would rather not build these workflows yourself, or the scale calls for someone to plan it with you, Roamer Tech (the company behind RoamerHost) takes on business process automation and custom AI agent projects:
