Morning Briefings and Intraday Alerts

Q: I didn't get my morning briefing today. Where do I start?

Check these four things in order:

  1. Is today a trading day? Briefings are only sent on trading days, not on weekends or holidays.
  2. Link status: in the dashboard, check whether "2. Telegram linked" under Setup progress shows as linked. Right after you subscribe, your dedicated bot may still be being set up (about 1 business day); briefings only start once the linking section appears and you complete linking.
  3. Daily briefing switch: this switch can only be turned on after you link Telegram. Make sure it's on, and that the delivery time is the one you think it is. After changing settings you need to click "Save and apply," and changes take effect from the next briefing.
  4. Did you block the bot? This is the one people overlook most. If you've blocked or deleted the bot chat in Telegram, you won't receive anything, even if your dashboard settings are correct. After unblocking, send it a message yourself.

If all of that checks out, see whether your phone's Telegram notifications or Do Not Disturb mode are muting the messages. Also, if you're on the free trial preview, what you receive is a general market briefing at 08:30 on each trading day, without your personal holdings or P&L. That's expected.

Q: Can I change when the morning briefing is delivered?

Yes. In the dashboard you can choose 07:00, 07:30, 08:00, 08:30 (default), 09:00, 09:30, 11:00, 13:45, 17:00, or 20:00. Click "Save and apply" after changing it, and the briefing arrives at the new time starting the next day. You can also turn the daily briefing off entirely; when it's off, you can still ask questions in Telegram any time. The setup guide has a table matching routines to time slots. Intraday alerts are separate: holdings are checked at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, and 13:00, independent of the briefing's delivery time, so changing the briefing time doesn't change when intraday checks happen.

Q: When will it alert me during the session? Why does a stock sometimes fall without an alert?

On every trading day it checks your holdings once each at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, and 13:00, and alerts you only if any of these conditions is met:

  • The price hits a stop-loss price or level you told it about (this one takes priority)
  • The stock is down 5% or more on the day
  • The price breaks the previous session's low while the stock is down 3% or more on the day

If nothing triggers, it sends nothing at all. If a stock fell and you didn't get an alert, it's usually one of these:

  • The conditions weren't met yet: for example, it fell 4% but didn't break the previous session's low and hasn't reached the stop-loss price you mentioned.
  • You were already alerted today: if the same stock already triggered an alert for the same reason today and hasn't fallen another 3% or more since, it won't send again. A stock locked at limit-down only triggers the first alert.
  • The drop fell between two checks: checks happen at the four times above, so a sharp drop that recovers before the next check won't trigger an alert. Moves between 13:00 and the close are also outside the intraday check window.
  • It doesn't know your stop-loss price: it deliberately avoids hard-coded fixed support prices, because price ranges change and a hard-coded level eventually fires every time. The stop-loss line in your head only gets remembered once you say it in Telegram.

Alerts include the current price, the drop, the trigger, the data source and timestamp, RSI (noting which day's daily value it is), your cost and current unrealized loss, and a note that intraday prices may still change before the close and the closing price is final. For how to read them, see Stop-Loss Discipline: How Intraday Alerts Warn You Before Losses Grow.

Q: Why are the prices in the morning briefing yesterday's closing prices?

With the default 08:30 briefing, the Taiwan market hasn't opened yet (it opens at 09:00), so every Taiwan stock figure in the briefing is the previous session's close. The briefing says so explicitly and never describes it as "this morning's trading."

You might ask: at 08:30 my broker app already shows prices moving. Those are pre-open auction indicative prices from the 08:30–09:00 call auction, simulated values driven by orders that can be canceled at any time, not prices anyone actually traded at. The briefing doesn't use indicative prices, and it won't change a stop-loss or take-profit judgment because of them. A real example: on August 5, 2026, the indicative price showed one electronics stock at -9.84%, close to limit-down, but it actually opened at +3.28%. If you judged by the indicative price, you might think your stop-loss had been blown through and make the exact opposite decision.

Holdings, Trades, and Analysis

Q: What's the difference between the watchlist and the holdings list?

The holdings list is for stocks you've already bought: you enter the code, name, number of shares, and average cost. It calculates your P&L from your cost every day; for holdings that moved more than 3% in the previous session or have an unrealized loss above 15%, the briefing looks up news for you; and during the session it checks whether any holding has triggered a stop-loss alert.

The watchlist is for stocks you haven't bought but want to track: you enter the code, name, and reason for watching. Every day the briefing lists their close and change and brings back the reason you wrote, so it's best to write that reason as a price or condition, such as "wait for a pullback to 290." Each list takes up to 10 stocks.

Q: After a trade goes through, do I need to update my holdings in the dashboard?

No. Just tell it in Telegram, for example "Added one lot of Stock A at 131" or "Sold one lot of Stock B at 186." It records the trade, your holdings list updates automatically within about 10 minutes, and later briefings calculate P&L from the updated holdings. Two things to note: merely saying "want to buy" or "thinking about adding" isn't treated as a trade, and if the price or quantity is unclear, it will first ask, "How many lots, and at what price?"

Costs and positions you mention in chat are also written into that day's investment notes. The next time it analyzes that stock, it reads the last seven days of notes first and takes your position and its previous conclusion into account.

Q: How is P&L calculated? Does it include dividends?

P&L is calculated from the original cost you entered, and always by code, never estimated in its head. There's a real reason for this rule: on August 13, 2026, a holding with a cost of 207 and a close of 205 should have shown -0.97%, but was calculated as -2.4%. Since then, all P&L and return figures are calculated by code, because you make decisions based on that number.

As for dividends, it won't subtract them from your cost on its own. If it also shows a return including dividends, it lists that and the P&L on your original cost as two separate numbers.

Q: Where does the analysis data come from? What if something can't be found?

It prioritizes the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), the Taipei Exchange (TPEx), the Market Observation Post System (MOPS), Yahoo Finance Taiwan, Goodinfo, Anue, MoneyDJ, Economic Daily News, and Commercial Times. Every fact is tagged with its source on the spot, such as "(Source: Anue, 7/12)." News and discussions are checked for date and year before being cited, and articles more than a month old aren't treated as current market sentiment.

Data it can't find is written plainly as "not found," for example "Earnings call: no recent information found." It doesn't leave the gap blank or make something up with words like "expected" or "likely." When you see "not found," you can rephrase and ask again, or verify it yourself on MOPS. For your money, an honest "not found" is far safer than a made-up number; see Every Statement Has a Source for why.

In terms of coverage, it mainly supports TWSE/TPEx listed stocks; you can also ask about U.S. stock indexes, macro topics (such as changes in U.S. Treasury yields), and sector comparisons. Questions just need to be in text; please type instead of sending voice messages, videos, or similar.

Q: Will it tell me directly whether to buy or sell?

It gives clear analytical conclusions without hedging. A full analysis concludes with one of Buy, Hold, Trim, Sell, or Wait. The action notes fall into categories such as Buy, Test with a small position, Hold, Trim, Cut losses, Don't chase, and Wait and see, along with a watch-to-buy price, support, resistance, a stop-loss, and a take-profit watch level. Inferences always start with "In my judgment" and are kept separate from the facts it found. If this conclusion differs from last time, it says plainly what it suggested before and why it changed.

These are for reference, not investment instructions. It doesn't place orders, doesn't manage money for you, and doesn't guarantee profits; whether to buy, and how much, is your decision.

Account and Billing

Q: Can my family receive the morning briefings too?

Yes. You can link multiple Telegram accounts; the most common use is sharing the same holdings tracking with family members. In the dashboard, click "+ Link another Telegram account," then have your family member send /start to the same dedicated bot from their own Telegram account. The bot replies with a pairing code; paste it into that field and click "Link it," and you're done. From then on, briefings, charts, and messages go to every linked account.

The pairing code is what links a Telegram account to your subscription, so only pass it between you and your family, and don't paste it into group chats. See the setup guide for the full steps.

Q: Is this an investment advisory service?

No. Stock Helper is not a securities investment advisory service; what it does is AI information aggregation and analysis. Every reply ends with a disclaimer reminding you that AI analysis may contain errors and that you should verify it yourself. It also doesn't guarantee profits, doesn't promise returns, and won't encourage you to go all-in or use heavy leverage. Your holdings data is only used in your own conversations and is never shared.

Q: Do I pay separately for AI costs?

No. The NT$4,500 monthly fee already includes AI costs. Multiple AI engines work together behind the scenes, you don't need to sign up or pay for any AI service, and you won't get a second bill. There's no contract, and cancellation takes effect at the next billing period.
