The first time most people hear "let an AI go into your WordPress and edit your site," two questions come to mind: Can it really do that? And will it break my site?
This article collects the most common questions people have before choosing Roamer AI, grouped into "What It Can Do," "Safety and Control," and "Plans and Pricing," with a direct answer to each. If you haven't read the overview yet, you may want to start with WP × Roamer AI: Finally, Someone to Look After Your Site.
30-Second Overview
| What you want to know | The short answer |
|---|---|
| What it is | An AI that logs into your WordPress and does the work, not a support bot that only answers questions |
| Who it's for | Shops, studios, and personal brands that aren't technical, want someone looking after their site, and don't want to get a quote for every edit |
| Is it safe? | Automatic snapshots before changes, high-risk actions only after you personally click a confirmation code, every step can be undone, and a human engineer takes over when it can't solve something |
| If your site isn't on RoamerHost | You can connect it for day-to-day work; full features like snapshots, rescue, and batch updates need a site hosted on RoamerHost |
| What it costs | Pro plan NT$11,988/year (avg. NT$999/mo); Basic plan NT$3,588/year with only a basic trial of Roamer AI |
What It Can Do
What comes up after your site goes live falls roughly into four categories: building and editing the site, day-to-day content updates, maintenance and updates, and emergency rescue when the site breaks. Roamer AI can take over all four. Here are answers to the questions we get asked most.
Q: How is Roamer AI different from a regular AI chatbot?
A regular AI chatbot tells you how to do something, and then you still have to log in to the admin, find the button, and take the risk of clicking the wrong thing yourself. Roamer AI is an AI that logs into your WordPress and does the work. Say "Change our hours to closed on Mondays," and it lists a plan for you to approve, actually goes in and makes the change, automatically captures desktop (1366 px wide) and mobile (390 px wide) screenshots to check the layout, and then reports back. It does the work for you; it's not a support bot that only answers questions.
Q: I'm not technical at all. Can I use it?
Yes. It was designed for people who aren't technical. Just describe what you need in plain language on the Roamer AI page of your RoamerHost dashboard. You don't need to know what plugins, PHP, or code are. It lays out its plan in plain language for you to approve, and when a high-risk step needs your decision, it gives you a confirmation code button; read the explanation, then click. You also don't have to describe everything perfectly on the first try. The plan it lists is there so you can check whether it understood you, and you can correct it if it didn't. For your first request, try: "Check my site's health. Is there anything that needs updating, and are there any errors?"
Q: My site isn't on RoamerHost. Can I still use it?
Yes. External WordPress sites can connect with WordPress's built-in Application Passwords for day-to-day work on content, menus, plugins, SEO, and products. But full site builds and layout editing, snapshots and restores, emergency rescue, batch updates, and switching PHP versions are only available on sites hosted on RoamerHost. If you want the full feature set, you can move your site to RoamerHost: the Pro plan includes migration help for existing sites, so contact [email protected] and we'll help you move. To learn what a move typically involves, see Migrating WordPress off Shared Hosting: 6 Real Issues.
Q: Can it work with WooCommerce?
Yes. It can add and edit WooCommerce products and product categories, and adjust store settings. For example: "Add three new products in the 'Fall Limited' category" or "Change 'Classic Pudding' to NT$70." For problems like a checkout page layout breaking after an update, it can run a plugin conflict check, deactivating suspect plugins one at a time and rechecking to find the one causing it. Deactivating plugins is a high-risk action, so it asks you to click a confirmation code first. For more example requests for adding products and changing prices, see Use Roamer AI as Your Editor: Products, Promos, and Posts.
Q: Can it write code to add features for me?
Yes, within limits. When there's no suitable plugin, it can write a code snippet to add the feature directly, such as sending a LINE notification when a post is published, a booking button, members-only content, or automatic price calculation. If your needs go beyond what plugins and code snippets can do (large custom plugins, integrations with company systems, full rebuilds of old sites), you need a developer; see "Want someone to build it for you?" at the end of this article. For details, see Can’t Find the Right Plugin? Just Ask the AI to Build It.
Q: Can it update my plugins?
Yes. On sites hosted on RoamerHost, it first packages up your plugin files as a backup, then updates in batches of 5, checks the homepage and admin afterward, and rolls back if there's an error. A whole batch update can also be undone in one step. Elementor and Elementor Pro are handled together: if Pro can't be updated at the same time, neither is updated, so a version mismatch doesn't take down the whole site. Paid plugins with no download source (lapsed licenses) are skipped automatically. Batch updates only start after you click a confirmation code. External sites don't have batch updates. For the full explanation, see Afraid to Update Plugins? Backups, Batches, Rollbacks.
Q: If my site goes down, can it rescue it?
On sites hosted on RoamerHost, yes. Its rescue tools work even when the site is already broken and the admin won't load. In one pass it checks the status of the homepage, admin, and API; which plugin or theme is involved in recent PHP fatal errors; whether WordPress core works with plugins disabled; and which plugins and themes were updated or changed in the last 72 hours. Then it proposes a fix: deactivating the problem plugin, rolling a plugin back to its pre-update version, disabling a faulty code snippet, switching PHP versions, or restoring a snapshot. Every action needs your confirmation. Common rescue scenarios include a white screen, "There has been a critical error on this website," being locked out of the admin, a checkout page layout breaking after an update, and forms that won't send. For the process, see White Screen or Locked Out: The Roamer AI Rescue Process.
Safety and Control
When you let an AI touch your site, the question isn't just whether it will make mistakes. It's whether you can undo them, and whether it can make big changes without you knowing. That's what this section answers.
Q: Will it make random changes to my site?
There are several layers of safeguards. First, it lists a plan for your approval before doing anything. Second, high-risk actions (batch updates, snapshot restores, password resets, PHP version changes, switching or installing themes, activating or deactivating plugins, and every rescue action) require you to personally click a confirmation code, for example "Confirm K7Q2." Only a message sent by you can confirm it; the AI has no way to press it for you. If the parameters differ from what it originally described, it won't go through. Each code is valid for 60 minutes and can only be used once. These rules are enforced in code, not left to the AI's self-discipline. Third, on hosted sites it takes an automatic snapshot before every change. Fourth, after every change it automatically checks desktop and mobile screenshots of the layout, instead of just assuming it's fine.
Q: What if it breaks something?
Say "change it back" or "undo." Every change is logged, so you can roll back one step at a time. On sites hosted on RoamerHost, it automatically creates a snapshot before each write (at most one every 10 minutes, keeping the latest 5, including the database), and the platform also takes weekly snapshots (2 kept per site, meant as platform-side restore points, not full disaster recovery). Before restoring a snapshot, the system first backs up the current state; if that backup fails, the restore doesn't happen. After a restore, you can still roll back again. We don't assume the AI never makes mistakes, which is exactly why there are three lines of defense: snapshots, confirmation codes, and undo.
Q: Do I have to give it my admin password?
No. Sites hosted on RoamerHost connect with one click, and the system creates a dedicated "roamer-ai" account and an application password on your site. The AI works under its own account, and when you disconnect, that password is revoked automatically. External sites connect with WordPress's built-in Application Passwords, which also aren't your login password and can be revoked at any time from your profile page in the WordPress admin.
Q: What if it can't solve my problem?
It hands it to a human. If you say "get me a human" or "get me an engineer," or if it has tried reasonable fixes and still can't solve the problem, or the issue involves server-level work, billing refunds, data recovery, or a site outage it can't bring back, it notifies a RoamerHost engineer with the conversation, your site details, the cause it found, and what it already tried, so you don't have to explain everything again from the start. When a site outage is affecting your business, it gets flagged as urgent.
Plans and Pricing
The main difference between the two plans is whether Roamer AI can do the work for you: if you want to hand your site over to it, choose Pro; if you just need a WordPress site, choose Basic.
Q: What's the difference between the Basic and Pro plans?
WP × Roamer AI Pro is NT$11,988/year (avg. NT$999/mo) and combines hosting, a WordPress site, and Business-tier Roamer AI access, so the AI can go into your site to build, edit, and manage it for you. There's no setup fee and no add-ons. WordPress Basic is NT$3,588/year (avg. NT$299/mo) and includes only the WordPress site; Roamer AI is limited to a basic trial of 3 conversations per month. Both plans include: the latest WordPress installed automatically about 60 seconds after payment, a Traditional Chinese admin, one isolated container per site, custom domain, free SSL, automatic updates, and weekly platform snapshots. Public plans are all billed yearly. You can upgrade from Basic to Pro with one click in your dashboard at any time, and it takes effect as soon as payment goes through. See the comparison on the pricing section.
Q: What happens when I use up my Roamer AI quota?
You won't be charged extra, and it doesn't affect your site. Your site stays up and visitors can keep browsing as usual. General tech-support questions that don't touch your site are available on both plans.
Q: Can I try it first?
Yes. Submit a request on the free trial page, and someone from our team will contact you to confirm what you need and set up a trial environment. If you want to try Roamer AI, say so in the request field. The Basic plan itself also includes a basic trial of 3 Roamer AI conversations per month, and you can upgrade to Pro with one click once you're sure you want to hand your site over. If your trial environment includes Roamer AI, we suggest doing these three things first: ask it for a health check, ask it to change a bit of text and show you a screenshot, then say "change it back" to test the undo. Once you've done those three, you'll have a good sense of whether it's right for you.
