Launch day is usually the best day of the whole website project. The URL loads, the homepage looks great, and friends text you to say it looks good. But the real work starts that day: opening hours change, new products need to go up, the admin fills up with plugin update notices, and then one morning you open your site to a blank white screen.
That's when you realize building the site wasn't the hard part. The hard part is figuring out who looks after it now.
Watch the 74-second video first: how Roamer AI edits a site by chat, backs up before updating in batches, and brings a white screen back in minutes.
If even one of these sounds familiar, this article is for you:
- You can't reach the person who built it. The freelancer who set up your site stopped taking projects, your messages get read and ignored, and you don't even know which plugins are installed.
- Changing one line takes three days and a quote. Just switching "Closed Mondays" to "Closed Tuesdays" means screenshots, back-and-forth confirmations, waiting in line, and paying an invoice. By the time it's done, the promotion is almost over.
- You're afraid to update plugins. The admin keeps telling you new versions are available, but you've heard of sites breaking after a single update, so you ignore it and the plugins keep getting older.
- The white screen always hits on a weekend. A customer messages you on Saturday night that your site won't load, nobody you call picks up, and all you can do is wait until Monday.
WP × Roamer AI is built for that "after." It bundles hosting, a WordPress site, and an AI that goes into your site and does the work itself into a single plan. This article walks you through what it is, what it can do, whether it's safe, what it costs, and how to get started.
30-Second Overview
| What you want to know | The short answer |
|---|---|
| What Roamer AI is | An AI that logs into your WordPress and does the work, not a support bot that only answers questions |
| How you use it | Describe what you need in plain language on the Roamer AI page of your RoamerHost dashboard; it lists a plan for you to approve, then gets to work |
| What it can take over | Building and editing your site, day-to-day content updates, plugin updates and maintenance, and emergency rescue when the site breaks |
| If it breaks something | Automatic snapshots before changes, "undo that" to roll back, and high-risk actions only run after you personally click a confirmation code |
| If it can't fix something | It writes up the problem and what it found, then hands it to a RoamerHost engineer |
| What it costs | Pro plan NT$11,988/year (avg. NT$999/mo, billed yearly), covering hosting, your site, and Roamer AI |
What Is Roamer AI, and How Is It Different from an AI Chatbot?
You've probably used an AI chatbot. Ask it "How do I change my WordPress menu?" and it gives you a list of steps. Then what? You still have to log in to the admin yourself, find the right button yourself, and worry about clicking the wrong thing.
The big difference with Roamer AI is that it logs into your WordPress and does the work. Say "Move 'Latest News' to the end of the menu," and it actually goes in and changes it, then shows you a screenshot. You only have two jobs: say clearly what you want, and decide whether you're happy with the result.
It signs in with its own dedicated account. Sites hosted on RoamerHost connect with one click: the system creates a dedicated account named "roamer-ai" and an application password on your site, so you never hand over your own admin password. If you ever disconnect, that password is revoked automatically.
How Does It Work? From Your Request to Done
Whether it's changing one word or building a whole page, Roamer AI follows the same process:
- You describe what you need. Talk the way you normally would. No technical terms required.
- It lists a plan. It tells you what it's going to change and how, and waits for your go-ahead before starting.
- It does the work. It adds or edits pages, products, menus, and settings directly in your WordPress.
- It checks with screenshots. When it's done, it automatically captures your site on desktop (1366 px wide) and mobile (390 px wide) and checks the layout itself, instead of just assuming it's fine.
- You decide whether to keep it. If you're happy, you're done. If not, say "undo" or "change it back" and it rolls back.
A real conversation looks something like this (illustrative):
You: "Change the opening hours on the homepage to Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–20:00, closed Mondays."
Roamer AI: "I'll update the hours text in the 'Business Info' section of the homepage and leave everything else alone. I'll start once you confirm."
You: "Go ahead."
Roamer AI: "Done. I only touched the opening hours. I checked the desktop and mobile screenshots and the layout looks normal. If you want it back, just say 'change it back.'"
What Work Can It Take Over?
Everything that comes up after your site goes live falls roughly into four categories, and Roamer AI can handle all four.
1. Building and Editing Your Site
If you don't have a site yet, you can just say, "Build me a website for my seaside B&B with a homepage, room types, directions, and a contact page." It sets up the site name and brand colors, builds a site-wide header, footer, and navigation menu, generates lifestyle images, assembles the pages, and adds a contact form. If you already have a site, you can ask it for a refresh: swap the logo, adjust brand colors, add a page, reorganize the menu, or add a bit of custom CSS.
For small features where you can't find a suitable plugin, like sending a LINE notification when a post is published, a booking button, members-only content, or automatic price calculation, it can write a code snippet and add it directly. See Can’t Find the Right Plugin? Just Ask the AI to Build It.
2. Day-to-Day Content Updates
Adding new products, changing prices, swapping promo banners, publishing posts with images, editing the SEO title and description on every page, finding every place on the site that still lists your old phone number: small jobs that used to mean finding someone and getting a quote are now just a matter of asking. If you run an online store, it can also manage WooCommerce products, product categories, and store settings. For full scenarios and example requests, see Use Roamer AI as Your Editor: Products, Promos, and Posts. To see what those small edits cost you in a year, read A Quote to Change One Line? The Real Cost of Small Edits.
3. Maintenance and Updates
Say "Check my site's health," and it reports your WordPress and PHP versions, which core, plugin, and theme updates are available, whether HTTPS is working, whether debug mode is on, the number of PHP fatal errors in the last 24 hours, disk usage, and homepage response time.
When it's time to update plugins, it doesn't just push everything through at once. It first packages up your plugin files as a backup, then updates in batches of 5, checks the homepage and admin afterward, and rolls back if there's an error. A whole batch update can also be undone in one step. For how to update safely, see Afraid to Update Plugins? Backups, Batches, Rollbacks.
4. Emergency Rescue
A white screen, a "There has been a critical error on this website" message, an admin you can't log in to: normally someone has to get into the admin before they can even start investigating. Roamer AI's rescue tools work even when the site is already broken and the admin won't load. In one pass it checks the status of the homepage, admin, and API; which plugin or theme is involved in recent PHP fatal errors; whether WordPress core works with plugins disabled; and which plugins and themes were updated or changed in the last 72 hours. Then it proposes a fix, such as deactivating the problem plugin, rolling a plugin back to its pre-update version, or restoring a snapshot. Every one of these actions needs your confirmation. Rescue is only available on sites hosted on RoamerHost. See White Screen or Locked Out: The Roamer AI Rescue Process.
Is It Safe to Let an AI Touch My Site?
This is the question we hear most. The honest part first: AI makes mistakes. So Roamer AI isn't designed on the assumption that it never gets things wrong. It's designed so every mistake can be undone. There are four lines of defense:
- Automatic snapshots before changes: Before every write, it automatically creates a snapshot (at most one every 10 minutes, keeping the latest 5), including the database. The platform also takes a weekly snapshot. Snapshots and restores are only available on sites hosted on RoamerHost.
- You personally confirm high-risk actions: For batch updates, snapshot restores, password resets, PHP version changes, switching or installing themes, activating or deactivating plugins, and every rescue action, the AI must first explain what it's about to do, then give you a confirmation code button (for example, "Confirm K7Q2"). Only a message sent by you can confirm it; the AI has no way to press it for you. If the parameters differ from what it originally described, it won't go through. Each code is valid for 60 minutes and can only be used once. These rules are enforced in code, not left to the AI's self-discipline.
- Every step can be undone: Every change is logged, and saying "change it back" rolls them back one at a time. Before restoring a snapshot, the system first backs up the current state; if that backup fails, the restore doesn't happen. After a restore, you can still roll back again.
- Human backup: If you say "get me a human," or if it has tried reasonable fixes and still can't solve the problem, or the issue needs server-level work, it notifies a RoamerHost engineer with the conversation, your site details, the cause it found, and what it already tried. When a site outage is affecting your business, it gets flagged as urgent.

Plans and Pricing: What Does It Cost per Year?
| Item | WP × Roamer AI Pro | WordPress Basic |
|---|---|---|
| Price (billed yearly) | NT$11,988 (avg. NT$999/mo) | NT$3,588 (avg. NT$299/mo) |
| Includes | Hosting + WordPress site + Business-tier Roamer AI access | Hosting + WordPress site |
| Roamer AI | Goes into your site to build, edit, and manage it for you | A basic trial of 3 conversations per month |
| Core site features | Latest WordPress installed automatically about 60 seconds after payment, Traditional Chinese admin, one isolated container per site, custom domain, free SSL, automatic updates, weekly platform snapshots | Same |
The Pro plan has no setup fee and no add-ons. At an average of NT$999 a month, it's roughly in the range of what people are commonly quoted for a single website edit, except it covers hosting, your site, and a full year of Roamer AI.
A few details, all in one place: if you use up your Roamer AI quota, you won't be charged extra and your site keeps running. General tech-support questions that don't touch your site are available on both plans. You can upgrade from Basic to Pro with one click in your dashboard at any time, and it takes effect as soon as payment goes through. The weekly platform snapshots keep 2 copies per site and are meant as platform-side restore points, not full disaster recovery. See the full comparison on the pricing section.
How Do I Get Started? Four Steps
- Request a trial or subscribe. If you want to look around first, request a free trial: after you submit your request, someone from our team will contact you and set up a trial environment. If you want to try Roamer AI, say so in the request field. When you're ready, subscribe to the Pro plan on the pricing section. About 60 seconds after payment, the latest WordPress is installed automatically.
- Open the Roamer AI page in your dashboard. Log in to your RoamerHost dashboard and go to Roamer AI.
- Connect your site with one click. Click "Connect site" and choose your website. There's no password to paste; the system creates the dedicated account automatically.
- Say your first sentence. Not sure where to start? Start with a health check.
Just say: "Check my site's health. Is there anything that needs updating, and are there any errors?"
Or hand it that small job you've been putting off:
- "Find every place on the site that lists our old phone number, 02-2345-6789, and change it to 02-2345-0000."
- "Add a notice at the very top of the homepage: Closed 10/10–10/12 for the National Day holiday."
- "Go through the SEO title and description on every page and fill in any that are missing."
What If My Site Isn't on RoamerHost?
You can still use it. External WordPress sites can connect to Roamer AI with WordPress's built-in Application Passwords, and all the day-to-day work is covered: post and page content, menus, plugins, SEO, and WooCommerce products.
But a few features need server-level control and are only available on sites hosted on RoamerHost: full site builds and layout editing, snapshots and restores, emergency rescue, batch updates, and switching PHP versions. In other words, an external site can use it as a day-to-day editor, but the two safety nets, "rescue when the site breaks" and "one-click restore when something goes wrong," only come with moving your site to RoamerHost hosting. The Pro plan includes migration help for existing sites: contact [email protected] and we'll help you move your site over. FAQ
Q: I'm not technical at all. Can I really use it?
Yes. It's designed for people who aren't technical. You describe what you need the way you normally talk, it lays out its plan in plain language for you to approve, and when it's done it shows you screenshots of the result. You don't need to know what a plugin or PHP is. For high-risk steps that need your decision, it gives you a confirmation code button; read the explanation, then click.
Q: Will it make changes to my site on its own?
It lists a plan and waits for your approval before doing anything. High-risk actions like batch updates, activating or deactivating plugins, and restoring snapshots only run after you personally send the confirmation code, and the AI has no way to press it for you. If you don't like a change, say "change it back" and it rolls back.
Q: What happens when I run out of Roamer AI quota?
You won't be charged extra, and your site keeps running as usual. General tech-support questions that don't touch your site are available on both plans.
Q: Can I use Roamer AI on the Basic plan?
The Basic plan includes only a basic trial of 3 conversations per month, which is good for getting a feel for it. To hand over editing and managing your site, you need the Pro plan. You can upgrade from Basic with one click in your dashboard at any time, and it takes effect as soon as payment goes through.
