A website in Taiwan can cost anywhere from a few thousand NT dollars a year to several hundred thousand. The gap is that "getting a website made" means buying different things: with a design agency you're buying labor; with a template platform such as Wix you're buying a subscription plus your own time; with an AI website builder you're buying hosting plus an AI that does the work. This article breaks the three approaches apart, works out the first year and each year after, and ends with the costs people most often forget.
Agency rates come from the public quote statistics of PRO360, a Taiwanese freelance marketplace (data period 2024 to 2026, checked October 2026). Platform prices are as published on each vendor's site, checked October 2026; overseas vendors' prices are in USD before tax. Actual amounts depend on the quote you receive and the vendor's current pricing.
First, separate what your money actually buys
The cost of a website breaks into roughly four parts. The first is the labor of building it: layout and design, copy, photos or stock images, assembling the pages. The second is somewhere to run it, meaning hosting or a platform subscription. The third is the domain, your web address, a few hundred NT dollars a year. The fourth is upkeep after launch: content changes, plugin and system updates, and dealing with a site that breaks.
Quotes look wildly different mostly because each vendor slices those four parts differently: agencies usually quote only the first, template platforms turn the second into a monthly fee and leave the first to you, and an AI website builder hands most of the first and fourth parts to the AI. Line up all four before comparing, or you'll end up comparing a build fee with a monthly fee.
Approach one: hire a design agency or freelancer
The traditional route: you describe what you need, and they propose, design, build and launch. In PRO360's quote statistics, a one-page site typically runs NT$10,000 to 50,000; a company site built on a template typically NT$20,000 to 50,000, built on a site-builder platform about NT$45,000 to 60,000, and fully custom from NT$100,000; an online store built on a hosted store platform typically NT$10,000 to 30,000, on a site-builder platform about NT$50,000 to 150,000, and fully custom from NT$300,000.
That money buys professional design and the time you save. Watch for costs outside the quote: hosting and the domain are usually extra, and PRO360 lists website maintenance at about NT$5,000 a month or NT$20,000 to 40,000 a year. Without a maintenance contract, every later change gets its own quote. We worked through what that means for a one-line edit in the real cost of small edits.
Before signing, get three things clear: whose name the domain is registered under, whether you'll get the admin account for the site, and whether the site can move if the hosting lapses or the agency stops working with you. When these aren't in the contract, they are the first things to go wrong a few years later.
Approach two: build it yourself on a template platform
Wix, WordPress.com and Hostinger's website builder all charge a platform fee and let you build from templates. Wix has a free plan that shows Wix ads and uses a subdomain; paid plans are priced by region, so see the vendor site. WordPress.com's Personal plan starts at US$4/mo billed yearly. Hostinger's Premium plan starts at US$2.99/mo but is paid upfront for 48 months and renews at US$10.99/mo. For an online store, SHOPLINE's entry plan is NT$40,000 a year plus a one-time setup fee of NT$5,000 and a monthly platform fee of 2% of sales, and CYBERBIZ Professional+ starts at NT$28,350 a year. All per each vendor's site, checked October 2026.
Platform fees look cheap; the real cost is your time. Picking a template, writing copy, finding images and adjusting layouts typically takes a first-timer several evenings, sometimes several weekends. Three more things to check: overseas vendors mostly bill in USD, so there's exchange rate and foreign card fees; many low prices are first-term prices, and the renewal price is the long-run cost; and whether you can take the site with you. Wix, for one, states that sites run only on Wix's servers.
Approach three: build it with AI
AI website building is priced in two ways. One is a generator platform with built-in AI, where AI usage is metered in credits on top of the subscription and you wait for next month or change plans when they run out. The other is a plan that bundles hosting with AI, such as RoamerHost's WP × Roamer AI Pro at avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly), which includes hosting, the WordPress site and business-tier Roamer AI with no setup fee.
The point of this approach is that the first and fourth parts cost almost nothing extra. Roamer AI builds the site from your description, and later you can ask it to change opening hours, add products or update plugins without getting a quote each time. The AI has a daily usage allowance; running out never costs extra, and it resets the next day. What you put in is mainly the time to prepare content and review its work, and most members on the member showcase had a first version within one to five days. If you only want the website and plan to do the work yourself, WordPress Basic is avg. NT$299/mo (billed yearly), with 3 Roamer AI conversations a month.
The three approaches side by side
The table estimates a company site of around five pages. Amounts are broad ranges; agency rates come from PRO360's quote statistics, and platform prices are per each vendor's site, checked October 2026.
| Approach | Roughly, first year | Each year after | Each content change | Can you take the site with you? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP × Roamer AI Pro RoamerHost | avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly), hosting, site and AI included | The same avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly) | Ask Roamer AI, no extra charge | Yes, a standard WordPress site you can export in full |
| WordPress Basic RoamerHost | avg. NT$299/mo (billed yearly), you build the content | The same avg. NT$299/mo (billed yearly) | Edit it yourself in the admin | Yes |
| Agency, template-based site | Build typically NT$20,000 to 50,000; hosting and domain extra | Maintenance contract typically NT$20,000 to 40,000, or quoted per change | Per quote | Depends on the contract |
| Agency, fully custom | From NT$100,000 | Maintenance extra | Per quote | Depends on the contract |
| Wix paid plan | Priced by region, see vendor site; plus your time | The plan's yearly fee | Edit it yourself | Can't be exported to another host |
| Hostinger website builder | Premium, 48 months paid upfront, about US$143.52 | Renews at US$10.99/mo | Edit it yourself | Depends on the mode |
Online stores work out differently because of payment processing fees, store platforms' sales-based fees and the work of listing products, so we cover them separately in Build an online store with AI.
Five costs people forget
First, the domain. PRO360 lists domain fees at about NT$300 to 800 a year, more for popular names. Register it under your own or your company's name, not in a vendor's account. Second, premium plugins and themes. WordPress has plenty of free plugins, but advanced features in forms, backup or membership plugins often need a yearly license, usually priced in USD.
Third, payment processing fees. If your store takes credit cards, payment providers such as ECPay or NewebPay charge a fee per transaction at their published rates. That cost has nothing to do with which platform you use, and it grows with sales. Fourth, renewal prices. Low monthly prices from first-term promotions or multi-year prepayment go back to full price at renewal, so compare three-year totals at the renewal price.
Fifth, your own time, the one most often ignored. In WordPress self-hosted vs managed we convert it to money at an hourly rate, and the cheapest plan often turns out not to save the most.
How to choose
If you're in Taiwan, have no engineer, and want a site that's yours with someone to look after it: choose WP × Roamer AI Pro, avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly), with building, editing and plugin updates all in one plan. If brand image is the priority and you need a one-of-a-kind design or complex features, and the budget is there: hire a design agency, and put the domain, admin account and maintenance scope in the contract. If you only need a one-page business card or event page: Wix or Canva is enough. If you only want the website and plan to do the work yourself: WordPress Basic, avg. NT$299/mo (billed yearly).
You can compare the two plans and what each includes on WP × Roamer AI plans and pricing, or see what the AI builds in the Roamer AI full demo. The whole process of building a website with AI is in the AI Website Builder Guide 2026.
FAQ
Q: How much does a company website cost?
With a design agency, PRO360's quote data puts a template-based company site at NT$20,000 to 50,000 and a fully custom one from NT$100,000, usually with hosting, domain and maintenance extra. On a template platform you mainly pay the subscription plus your own time. Built with AI, WP × Roamer AI Pro is avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly), with hosting, the site and the AI included.
Q: How much is website maintenance per year?
In PRO360's figures, maintenance commonly runs about NT$5,000 a month or NT$20,000 to 40,000 a year, and what it covers depends on the contract: some include only hosting and backups, others a fixed number of edits. WP × Roamer AI Pro includes hosting, automatic backups, security updates and AI edits in avg. NT$999/mo (billed yearly). The AI has a daily usage allowance, and running out never costs extra.
Q: Is building a website with AI really cheaper?
It depends on what you compare. On the build fee alone, AI costs almost nothing extra, but count the time you spend preparing content, reviewing and tweaking. The real savings usually come later: content changes without a quote each time, and plugin updates and rescues without hiring someone. If you need a distinctive brand design or integration with internal company systems, you'll still need an agency.
Q: Do I need to buy a domain and hosting separately?
You buy the domain from a registrar, a few hundred NT dollars a year. RoamerHost plans already include hosting and SSL, and if you don't have a domain yet you can launch on the subdomain we provide and connect your own later. With an agency, ask whether hosting and the domain are in the quote and whose name they're registered under.
